A FERRET LOST

This candle burns for all the lost ferrets in the world.  It burned during the 10 days
my Kit was lost.  It's my firm belief that it,  my prayers and all my friends'

prayers especially all those who read the FML are what brought my Kit safely home.
If your ferret is lost and if you will send me his name and  his picture if you wish, I will add it to this page in hopes it will help bring him home safely to you.

Missing Ferret List
I'm sorry to say that my own Kit is missing again!  I missed him Tuesday

afternoon (7/20/99).  I don't know how he got out.  I'm in hopes that some
of the neighbors will find him, or he will come home by himself.  Please pray with me for his safe return.  The burning candle and all your prayers brought him home once.
I'm praying that it will work again.

My Kit's Story

On May 24, l999, my 4th ferret, Kit, got outside without us knowing it.  It must
have happened late in the afternoon.  I had raised the garage door to bring in
some things from the car that we had bought at the grocery store.  Our den opens
into the garage, and if you aren't careful, one of our six will beat you through the door.
He must have gotten into the garage earlier, and I didn't know it.  About 10:00 A.M. the
next morning I missed Kit.  I looked everywhere that he is known to sleep or hide.   I got my
sweaky toy and search all over the neighborhood.  I opened the utility room door and put
food and water in there.  He has gotten out numerous times before but always come back
inside when he tired or got hungry.  We put up posters all in the neighborhood, went to
both nearby vets, and to the Humane Society, called Animal Control, went down to the
elementary school and had them announce it, but no luck.  We continued our search for
the next 10 days.  We had decided that he was gone for good.  That afternoon, June 2, l999,
our next door neighbor called and said that she was hearing scratching inside her kitchen
cabinet walls.  She had told me before about it but said in the ceiling.  I told her no ferret
could climb to get into the ceiling.  We went over and could definitely hear the scratching
coming from inside the walls.  My husband looked under the house, but there didn't appear
to be an opening where he could get inside.  We looked in her utility room (her house is
identical to ours) and found a place that had been opened and carelessly closed leaving
a small opening.  My husband pulled the boards out, and there was our precious Kit!   We
don't know how he got inside, from that hole or from under the house, but he must have
been there the whole 10 days he was gone.  He was so starved, and so skinny that it took
him several weeks to recover.  We took him to the vet, and he said he would be all right.
Today he is healthy and happy again.  I made a vow to never, never let another one slip out.

But it did.  On Monday, 7/20/99, I discovered he was gone again.  I was so careful, I thought,
to be sure he didn't get out a door when I opened it.  I still don't know when or how he got out,
but I have given up hope that I will ever see him again.  I hope if someone found him that he has
a happy home.  If he wasn't this fortunate, I hope to someday see him at The Rainbow Bridge.
I will continue burning his candle in hopes it will still help him and any other ferret that is lost
trying to find his way home.
